Willen Hospice selects SilverBug as their preferred IT people.

July 21, 2011

SilverBug donate support for local charity’s IT infrastructure.

In line with SilverBug’s charitable giving we are please to announced that we have signed an agreement with Willen Hospice to provide the charity with our support and expert advice for their IT infrastructure. SilverBug’s charitable giving programme kicked off in 2010 and saw total donations last year of over £11,000 to various charities. In 2011 we have decided to become more focussed in supporting local charities and in particular Willen Hospice.

Willen Hospice, currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, is a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment (also known as specialist palliative care). They work in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas and are based at a quiet lakeside area close to the City Centre providing services to three Primary Care Trusts: Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire & Northamptonshire. Their services are provided 24 hours a day without any cost to the patient or their families.

As part of the agreement SilverBug carried out an extensive network health check, looked at how the hospice worked and provided recommendations for a system that would function within the current requirements as well as making the network both easier to use and administer. The goal was to examine the current network and provide a solution that will support the hospice both now and into the future making them more effective and efficient.

Since the hospice receives less than 23% of its annual costs from Primary Care Trusts and has to fundraise more than £8,000 every day just to keep going, restricting costs to a minimum remains a priority. SilverBug Managing Director Owen Daley “We want to help Willen get a better return on their investment by using our expertise in IT to help make it more effective, in turn making their staff more efficient.” Owen explains, “We also wanted to be able to give something back to the community and by donating our time to supporting Willen’s IT we are helping them remove the cost of engaging an IT support company.”

Paul Hinson Chief Executive of Willen Hospice commented “I am delighted that SilverBug has chosen Willen Hospice as their preferred charity and will be providing us with the proactive monitoring service.  This will ensure that we can continue to provide the high level of specialist care to our patients and support for their families.  I wish to thank the team at SilverBug who have continuously supported Willen Hospice.”

SilverBug will be providing Willen with a 24x7x365 proactive monitoring service for their entire network ensuring that their systems are always available to support the valuable specialist care the Hospice offers to their patients as well as their fundraising activities. As well as the proactive monitoring, SilverBug will also be providing remote and onsite incident management, network security management and backup management.
